    Actually, if I remember my history correctly, the so-called Wild West actually has better gun control than the US currently.

        Check out the Wikipedia article for the “Shootout at OK Corral” (sorry on phone and having trouble linking url) for the most famous example.

        The catalyst was the sheriff attempting to enforce local Tombstone AZ law which prohibited firearms being carried within city limits.
