Is “little modern precedent” a good framing of this? I guess if you work for nerdy Lex Luther it is.

His supporters will be scratching their heads when the violence spills over into their lives. It isn’t so pretty when you’re not watching from your toilet on your phone. This scum sucker wants to exercise the military for his own purposes as much as possible. Another 3 years and the useful maga idiots will be desensitized to it.

You see all the civil war chuds online harping about liberals/the left and assuming a modern civil war would be an US vs THEM cake walk but the reality would be more like Bagdad when things were really bad with many different groups, often fighting each other and lots of bystanders getting killed. All these Right Wingers who want it so bad now with think their lives sucks and they’ll all lose family members to the violence.

So like, what happens if a subset of the troops don’t open fire on “leftists”? Is that the beginning of a civil war? There’s gotta be SOME folks with a conscious in the military.

Following Orders is deeply engrained in the military and obedience to authority is a hallmark of right-winger thought (they make up the bulk of the miliary). Unless it’s extremely heinous like “fire on this old folks home” most soldiers will probably go along with murder.

That’s sort of what I’m asking but not 100%, what happens when a subset of the troops you’re standing with start firing on the troops firing on civilians? How quickly does that spiral out of control?

It depends, I would guess. They usually source people from other regions so they don’t have any hang ups about shooting that city’s populace.

I think I heard that the name for this military operation was “Operation Epstein”. So, to reduce confusion when talking about this, it’s probably best to mention the operation by name:

“Today in Operation Epstein, Trump deployed troops to Portland”

He’s so badly trying to force a violent reaction. I hope no one gives that reaction until more people are willing to do something about it.

Edit: I say “he” but I want it clear that I don’t believe this is a Trump the person thing. The guy is an absolute moron and is extremely weak-willed. This shit has Stephen Miller written all over it. This is a Trump administration thing. I don’t want people to attribute traits to that pathetic little orange loser that aren’t his. It makes him seem competent.

He totally is and the problem is that people in Portland are armed to the teeth and I don’t doubt something will happen.

This will not end well for anyone, and it sucks.

I don’t see a scenario where our country can heal from this mess unless Stephen Miller faces his own Nuremberg trial

I’d also like to share that, just like last time, you may see images of smoke, graffiti, and darkness. But this facility is in a nice area next door to a preschool surrounded by mostly new build apartments and condos. Most of the residents work at the state’s largest hospital (and commute via the coolest mode of transportation possible).

And, just like last time, all of the graffiti and damage will be solely to the federal building while the rest of the area remains unchanged. By day, everyone goes about their lives. Except for the preschool which has not remained consistently open due to overnight lingering gas from ICE that has penetrated into their classrooms.

Local news had live coverage outside the facility last night, there were like 4 guys standing around.

The Sinclair rhetoric was through the roof, overlayed on 4 guys looking bored at 11 PM. No protest to be seen.

Setting the board. When someone has a gun pointed at you (Trump regime and military occupation), what’s an acceptable response?

Yep. They are even salivating at the possibility of a military dictatorship now for some reason.

Having the military depose your king is how you end up as a third world country. Unironnically.
