    Barn owls are that acquired taste we have with foods. Some have grown to like them, some try to like them but never do, and some like them now and then but not all the time.

    I think the trick is finding the first one you do like. These European ones seem lighter and more angelic than the American ones. Ours have some warmer neutral browns and a light spotting. Then ones like today’s Grass Owl get bolder colors and heavier spotting. Off in Asia and Oceania the Bay Owl turn the weirdness up to 11 to double down on it. Australia flips things all around to make theirs black with white spots with the Sooties or a rich gold with the Masked Owls.

    There’s a barn owl out there for everyone! I am glad you found this one to be so special.
