That’s why you use Discord for friendly chats, and Signal as a side channel for anything political.

It’s more-or-less a self-hostable Discord clone (but there are plenty of public instances you can join).
There are also Matrix bridges that let you join chats on other apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, etc.
