I think people underestimate how easy it is to keep people from realizing the truth to this in red states. If you only watch local news, and depend on Facebook for all of your political info, you’re going to be in the dark on most issues. Even if something important slips through, there’s always a swarm of disinformation bots ready to explain why it’s “fake news.”

Like in Louisiana every major hospital wrote a letter to Mike Johnson, warning him that the BBB would be catastrophic and multiple hospitals would close down. He not only passed it he fought tooth and nail to make sure it passed.

People deserve to know how hard he worked to take away their healthcare. On the rare occasion stories like this get reported by local news, they are quickly buried.

The most insane thing to me is at the core of the alleged argument for why all of this is necessary, is simply a demand of “freedom of religion” (at least when ignoring the quiet parts that are at the core of that, and aren’t even that quite anymore).

Once it collapses, similar to the power vacuum in post Soviet Russia, they will be ready and waiting to replace it with a new far right government led by a small group of wealthy individuals who control local resources.

Similar to Russia, I’m not sure how much control they will actually retain once it collapses and is replaced, but they’ve used essentially the same strategy. Doing all of this out in the open, putting the pieces in place, training and recruiting people to be ready to betray their own country. Yet when you point all this out, people want to pretend it’s just a conspiracy theory.

I had to scroll for a while but came just for the sucks at eating popcorn discussion.

My husband’s first job was working at a movie theatre sweeping the floors between movies. When we met like 10 years later, I learned he strongly held this weird stereotype about white women not being able to eat popcorn without making a complete mess.

When I asked why, he said it was something he’d noticed when he worked at the movie theatre. He then went into this long Rush Limbaughesque rant about the most ridiculous amount of popcorn he’d ever had to sweep up being when the theatre was showing the Divine Secrets of the Yaya Sisterhood. “The entire floor was like a carpet layer of popcorn!,” “It was like they had all been throwing it up in the air throughout the whole movie!,” and “What were they even doing?!?” Even to this day he still brings it up when someone mentions that movie or spills their popcorn.*

She could have killed herself. Luckily as a depressed person who was normally never left alone, she was left by herself with a gun not long after being checked out of the hospital for those mysterious bruises that apparently weren’t caused by the car accident.

So no real way to know if anyone might have killed her (like her father believes) in the window of time nobody can account for. Kinda like somebody else that killed themselves in an odd window of time after being left unsupervised.
