Mine likes to bully me by taking a toy, running under the bed, and fully expecting me to wriggle under there and take it. I give him one of those, and then shut the door on my way back to the living room.

At the end of the day the main point here is just don’t use the major streaming services.

I should figure out a way to replace the income these artists get for my individual stream. It comes out to fractions upon fractions of a penny.
The point here is robbing the CEO. There’s no meaningful impact to the artist (unless you’re Taylor Swift) thanks to the way these services are structured.

Every single one, to varying degrees, robs the artists and enriches their CEO’s and shareholders.
Do the ethical thing.
Don’t use them, and instead, use a Youtube-to-MP3 converter and steal the music.

This is the deal. Yes. People, at least here in the US, equate personal liberty with convenience; which is why you saw people willing to kidnap governors over being forced to wear a facemask, or attacking Red Lobster employees for being slow in bringing another basket of cheese biscuits.
Also why dead kids aren’t enough to get real progress on gun control.
I think when these tariffs really roll downhill and the supply chain is reconfigured within the next two years, the real and permanent impacts of Donald’s cavalier and reckless economic policies will be in full effect.

Those agencies, like major social media sites, are designed to piss you off and keep your eyes glued to ads.
Most of my news exposure is through Lemmy or Mastodon, through which I can automate the curation of my feed and I don’t see things that are going to rile me up as much; and therefore, I only see things that might rile me up when it’s my intention to do so.

When the new trade deals materialize in a year and a half or so, precipitated by the chaos Donald created, the US will find its economic power diminished. The evident unreliability of the US and its governing system is not going to be ignored by the rest of the world when China is waiting in the wings and demonstrating a firm commitment to business.

FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.worldto World News@lemmy.world•The latest child to starve to death in Gaza weighed less than when she was bornEnglish1·2 days agoThis is more like about people accepting what’s given, and not even trying to do more. We all are a failure.
I don’t know how often you get out into the world, but I run into people doing little pieces of good all the time. Those little pieces of good don’t grab headlines, but for most, that’s all the power they really have to make change. The same was true in Nazi Germany, with many people whose names didn’t survive (because they couldn’t give their real names) doing little pieces of good to help save lives.
You’re welcome to your misanthropic and self-critical views, but respectfully, I won’t have that put on me. If you feel like a failure in this fascist world, it’s time to find the little pieces of good you’re able to do on your block.
I love that his human put a soft blanket or pad or something there so he can comfortably extort playtime from his friends without discomfort to his belly.
