I just had this experience the other day. Flying SFO to BOS and it was like the security people didn’t even care. Leave everything in your bags, leave your shoes on, leave your belt on. The only thing they asked was empty your pockets, and it could all go in one bin. I thought that finally TSA was getting a bit better about not being such pricks about every little thing.
And then on my return flight, I got pulled out of the security line three times. Once for a mistake printed on my boarding pass (not my fault, but I had to get it corrected at the service kiosk anyway), once for my CPAP machine that I left in my carry on bag (which is exactly how I did it in SFO and they didn’t give a shit), and once a bottle of liquid that was 8.5oz (limit is 8.4oz), so they made me pour out 0.1oz of fucking liquid.
They yelled at me all three times and said that I should know the rules by now, but none of those things came up during my first flight. The rules change literally every time I fly somewhere, so there’s no point in memorizing them anymore. There are the “hard” rules which are sometimes not enforced and then there are the “soft” rules that seem to vary from airport to airport, or even individual TSA agents having a bad day or going on a power trip or something. I hate it.

You make a great point. My own counter to that would be that not every consequence needs to come directly from the courts. People are more than capable of making up their minds about it with just the testimony from the accusers and then acting on that information accordingly, we just didn’t. That doesn’t seem to be OP’s principal argument, though.
Could someone just make, like, Raunchy Mastercard and just process payments from everyone including all the porn and weird shit that the other mainstream companies don’t want? Yeah, I think a lot of people are completely missing the point. Very similar to how saying “black lives matter” doesn’t imply that non-black lives do not matter, or that black lives must somehow be considered more important than any other life, the phrase “believe women” doesn’t imply that we should start doubting men, or that a woman’s testimony should be held as a higher form of evidence than anything else. It’s pointing out the clear systemic bias against women in a system controlled and dominated mostly by men who do not want to cede their power and authority.
One of the many flaws of the English language is how difficult it is to condense a very complex sociopolitical message down into a catchy one-liner without losing a ton of the context that got people there in the first place.
That’s basically the rational take here. Israel was attacked and is defending itself, but going far and beyond self defense using the extermination of terrorists as an excuse to commit genocide. Palestinian civilians are caught up in the crossfire and are innocent of any wrongdoing, but the Palestinian government knowingly harbors Hamas within their borders and refuses to cooperate with Israel at every opportunity to create a two state system. Finally, there’s Hamas, who are bad guys full stop with no redeeming qualities.
So, Obama’s take is pretty solid. Nobody has their hands clean in all of this and everybody sucks, but there are still ways to stop the bloodshed, but those solutions are complicated. Especially when nobody really wants to come to the negotiation table right now. Israeli citizens right now remind me of American citizens in the wake of 9/11 - bloodthirsty and hungry for vengeance at any cost. So long as they remain furious, Netanyahu has a clear political motivation to continue the attacks.
