Totally agree. Discovery definitely had some fun cool things, especially in the early seasons. Unfortunately I think it got kind of sanctimonious as it progressed and that made a lot of the episodes kind of tedious.

SNW is sooo good, though. Still mad that Lower Decks was cancelled, too.

I guess for me it’s all just a kind of sane-washing. I think the term far right is a nice way of saying “not quite full-on fascist.” The “far right” is basically in charge of the conservative party in the US. To the extent that a large part of the “progressive” party could be classified as “the right” (and many of them classified themselves that way not that long ago!). Calling something “far-“ anything denotes fringe beliefs, and I think the window has shifted far enough on the right that anything short of folks who knowingly, actively, and proudly fly fascist flags are just “the right.” The bulk of the party now openly champions ideas that were considered fringe not very long ago.

Can we just stop calling it the “far right?” By now, unless they’re actually wearing hoods or dressing in 1940s Hugo Boss, they’re just “the right.” That’s where we are.

So, just watched the episode, and it’s about what I remember. Not bad. Kind of hope they make the whole season this. Someone needs to.

Meanwhile, Carney will hopefully be signing new trade deals with Japan, Mexico, and Europe, freezing the US out entirely. They should also maybe shut off the oil pipelines coming out of ‘Berta.
