I waddled onto the beach and stole found a computer to use.

Yup, it can be a way of getting a discussion started

For Canada the rules are as follows:

The Standing Orders of the House of Commons require the government to respond to every petition presented to the House within 45 calendar days. If the House is not sitting on that day, the response must be presented at the next sitting of the House.

The petitioner, supporters, signatories, and the member of Parliament who authorized the online publication of the e-petition will be notified by email when the response is tabled in the House. A copy will also be found on the petitions website along with the original petition.

I found the headline confusing, I think they’re saying

The Iconfactory, a design and development [company], is selling some apps — and AI is partially to blame | TechCrunch

    As for the AI portion

“ChatGPT and other AI services are basically killing @Iconfactory, and I’m not exaggerating or being hyperbolical,” Iconfactory developer Sean Heber said in a Mastodon post earlier this month.

The issue isn’t that people are using AI instead of mobile apps, but how vibe coding is affecting the need for app design firms like theirs. Besides building its own apps, the Iconfactory generated revenue by offering app design services, which include things like icon design (hence the name), app design, marketing asset creation, plus branding and consulting services.

  • So that rule was mainly intended for the election season. It was relatively easy during that period for us to check and verify election related information, and there was an increased risk from harmful information being posted right before people went to vote.

The initial removal of the rule from the sidebar was a mistake on my part from when I updated the sidebar the other day to add the new communities people made. I edit the sidebar elsewhere and copy it in, and didn’t grab the latest version of the sidebar like I should have.

However, since we’re planning to work on the updated guidelines and recommended community rules sometime soon (+ the posts to collect feedback), we might just leave it as is and deal with things in a case by case basic till then. I’m estimating that we will be able to get that done in late August / early fall, based on what our schedules look like.

Thank you for checking! I appreciate when users keep an eye on things and give feedback, since it helps us catch issues and improve our processes

  • I really can’t tell if this is serious or sarcasm because of the original comment, but I’ll reply with the assumption that it’s serious:

The reason I followed up is because (as the other comment said), it seemed like news about an american show, discussing american political issues. While those issues are directly affecting life here in Canada, this community often gets complaints about having too much american news and content. We can already see and follow along with the same news in other communities, and some users come to this space to get away from all that.

Sometimes I can dismiss a report outright if I can see the relevance, and other times I might leave a comment asking about it, such as this post. The author replied with the justification and the post was left up.

Yes, I’m Canadian, and you’ll find that my post history reflects that
