What happens if one of the ruling class pieces gets behind the pawns, couldn’t they pick them off slowly?
I found the headline confusing, I think they’re saying
The Iconfactory, a design and development [company], is selling some apps — and AI is partially to blame | TechCrunch
As for the AI portion
“ChatGPT and other AI services are basically killing @Iconfactory, and I’m not exaggerating or being hyperbolical,” Iconfactory developer Sean Heber said in a Mastodon post earlier this month.
The issue isn’t that people are using AI instead of mobile apps, but how vibe coding is affecting the need for app design firms like theirs. Besides building its own apps, the Iconfactory generated revenue by offering app design services, which include things like icon design (hence the name), app design, marketing asset creation, plus branding and consulting services.
That could pose separate issues, since we need fibre to have proper digestion. The scenario would need to account for it somehow (proper flow through the digestive system, water absorption, keeping the gut microbiota healthy, etc)
Someone that replied to you mentioned it, so I thought that’s what we were talking about
The meme said “shutting down” and not “going down”, so I think it’s about lemm.ee’s shutdown and not DDOS attacks

Otter@lemmy.caMto Canada@lemmy.ca•Union claims prime minister broke promise to 'cap, not cut' public serviceEnglish1·6 days agoSo that rule was mainly intended for the election season. It was relatively easy during that period for us to check and verify election related information, and there was an increased risk from harmful information being posted right before people went to vote.
The initial removal of the rule from the sidebar was a mistake on my part from when I updated the sidebar the other day to add the new communities people made. I edit the sidebar elsewhere and copy it in, and didn’t grab the latest version of the sidebar like I should have.
However, since we’re planning to work on the updated guidelines and recommended community rules sometime soon (+ the posts to collect feedback), we might just leave it as is and deal with things in a case by case basic till then. I’m estimating that we will be able to get that done in late August / early fall, based on what our schedules look like.
Thank you for checking! I appreciate when users keep an eye on things and give feedback, since it helps us catch issues and improve our processes

We had a chance to discuss this post and what we can do differently in the future. You raised some good points in your communication with us, and I’ve copied it in to our notes for future guidelines / recommended community rules. Thank you for reaching out, we’re keeping the comments approved.
Otter@lemmy.caMto Canada@lemmy.ca•South Park targets Paramount after signing $1.5bn deal and skewers Trump: ‘He can do anything to anyone’English2·10 days agoI really can’t tell if this is serious or sarcasm because of the original comment, but I’ll reply with the assumption that it’s serious:
The reason I followed up is because (as the other comment said), it seemed like news about an american show, discussing american political issues. While those issues are directly affecting life here in Canada, this community often gets complaints about having too much american news and content. We can already see and follow along with the same news in other communities, and some users come to this space to get away from all that.
Sometimes I can dismiss a report outright if I can see the relevance, and other times I might leave a comment asking about it, such as this post. The author replied with the justification and the post was left up.
Yes, I’m Canadian, and you’ll find that my post history reflects that

That makes sense to me. Maybe we can encourage people to post them as text posts, with the link in the body and a title that makes it seem more like a discussion starting post?
At the same time, it’s not too difficult to check on the posts on a case by case basis at our current size, and by the time that’s no longer possible we would have the momentum to support other communities. So it’s not a big deal
Otter@lemmy.caMto Canada@lemmy.ca•South Park targets Paramount after signing $1.5bn deal and skewers Trump: ‘He can do anything to anyone’English5·11 days agoDid something from my comment give that impression? I haven’t removed the post yet if that’s the concern.
Someone reported this post as being unrelated to the topic of this community (Canada), and I’m following up on it by asking the poster to add context for why they posted it here. Most likely the post will stay up since it has a lot of discussion already.

Otter@lemmy.caMto Canada@lemmy.ca•South Park targets Paramount after signing $1.5bn deal and skewers Trump: ‘He can do anything to anyone’English5·11 days agoThis is being reported as being unrelated, and I also think this is better for a different community. Could you add some context for how it is related to Canada? I haven’t seen the episode myself. Else it might be better for places like !television@piefed.social or !casualconversation@piefed.social.
If you were looking to discuss with other Canadians specifically, maybe we could use casual discussion community for that purpose?
Yup, it can be a way of getting a discussion started
For Canada the rules are as follows:
