From my experience most people just don’t know that it CAN be changed. They assume that there’s nothing to do about it, or that if there is you need to be a tech wizard to understand how. They know that they don’t understand how their computer/browser/phone/whatever works so they assume that even if there was a way it would be too complicated for them to even try. They don’t care to understand how it works, and that’s fine. I also don’t care how my microwave works as long as it does work when I need it to. There’s not enough time or mental energy to learn everything. But when you show them that all it takes is going to a website, typing “ublock” in the search bar and clicking a big button, then it goes from “probably rocket science” to “hey I could actually do this!”.

No it’s really that the result feels like a decision imposed on me and my brain can’t deal with that… It’s the same if I start to do something I want, then someone calls to tell me to do it and now I can’t do it anymore. Not sure if it’s PDA or something else, but it’s really annoying, especially in combination with AuDHD.

Tried it, not a great success… The only result is making me not want whatever was chosen anymore.

My brain has this awful tendency of going “I could have done it a minute ago but now that someone else told me to I can’t anymore”

If you look at old silent movies, they were played at different speeds in different cinemas and projections. There wasn’t a standard way to play a movie, no “you NEED to play the movie at this specific speed or it will be ruined”. I’m not saying the same should apply to modern movies, but I find it interesting.
