Ugh… There’s this sales / tech guy for this atrocious software I have to use. Everytime I have an issue and report it to him, he’s like “Oh, give me remote access and let me see if I can fix it right away.”
Dude… You have full access to my terminal server and in general the issues I report are not specific to my user account. So please let me work and do your thing without bothering me. When you have a lead and need my input please report back to me.
How does it compare to Duplicati?
Reading actual books (on paper!) in the bathtub is what I’ll never get: How do you flip pages? Do you dry your hands for each page or do you just live with soggy pages? Also the humidity in general is bad for your books… That’s why e-readers are so awesome.
That footpath is absolutely gorgeous! I envy you! I have a garden too but with three little kids too little time and money to really care for it and make some substantial changes. But I have some raised garden beds which is nice.
I am pretty sure he stepped down to protect his parliamentary group. If he hadn’t taken one for the team the AfD would’ve scandalised this topic even more and may have damaged the SPD and / or the Green party.
I don’t know if I’d go so far as to say it’s by design, but I definitely share your observation that capitalism doesn’t leave much time and energy you would need to pursue hobbies, and it’s way easier to get a dopamine high by consuming.
Even if this phenomenon is not by design, it is definitely synergizing very well with capitalism, and therefore there are people who exploit it and, in turn, support capitalism with their actions.
It is actually a depressing example of Niklas Luhmann’s systems theory, which states that every system inherently tends to stabilize itself.
