You really like false equivalency arguments, don’t you? Harris didn’t singlehandedly cause four more years of Trump. That took the entire GOP working/plotting towards it for four years, as well as many failures in leadership, on both sides, among many departments. I blame Biden’s DOJ for not prosecuting Trump for inciting an insurrection more than I blame Harris’ rushed campaign and handful of poor responses to questions. I also blame voters like you, who still fail to see the big picture and, instead, waste energy trying to punish neoliberals for playing neoliberal politics when the choice is between more neoliberalism and outright fascism. Both choices suck, but one leaves the option for a long game, while the other leads to minorities like me being murdered by the state.

I disagree. Harris was the driving force behind some major lawsuits that gave millions of dollars back to senior citizens who were defrauded by billionaire’s corporations. Trump has never, and would never do anything like that. Harris has largely tried to do the right thing throughout her political career, presumably because that is what is politically beneficial for her and she seems to want to leave a positive legacy. In other words, whether she actually cares about people or not, she’s a career politician who has consistently demonstrated that she wants the public to believe she cares about people. Out of the two options we were given, she’s clearly a better choice if you want someone who can be pressured into doing the right thing. Trump is more concerned with doing whatever he wants, then convincing his sycophants that it’s good for them, after the fact.

That’s a pretty emotional argument. She’s a mature woman in her 70’s. I doubt she would see it the way you do.

Would you end your current career if you had some sort of major failure? Personally, I would try to learn from it and do better next time.

If your goal was to stop the genocide, you should’ve voted for the person that values human lives over the one that doesn’t value anyone but himself. There was a chance we could’ve mounted enough political pressure that Harris would eventually cave. There’s zero chance of that with Trump. Forest through the trees.

Hard disagree. Anecdotal evidence is the terminology we use to describe trends we personally see. It’s colored by your perception, obviously, which is why you shouldn’t give it the same weight as actual data, but you can absolutely use it to inform your own opinions (which should also be influenced be real factual evidence/data). To write it off completely is pretty silly, IMO.

I don’t disagree with some of the sentiment you share, and I absolutely agree that Democrat leadership has been failing Americans for a long long time, on many issues, but you’re not going to convince me that a bunch of left leaning people abstaining to vote wasn’t them not being able to see the forest through the trees. Obviously genocide is bad, but it’s worse now that we have an authoritarian in charge who not only wants to support the genocide, but wants to get in on it, maybe open a new resort location after they clear out all the rubble and bodies.

I feel like I’m trying to explain something that’s very obvious, at least to me, and getting nowhere. I guess just keep ignoring the consequences of not voting against a wannabe dictator. Some people can’t be helped.

Where in my comment did I put the onus on progressives? I’m one of the progressives in that demographic, both in the way I voted and donated. I donated to every major progressive candidate in 2021. None of which live in my state. Not that I need to prove anything to you, internet random, just trying to point out how asinine your strawman is.

I said leftists because the left is a broad spectrum with varying beliefs. I’m fully aware that I’m basing my opinion on my own anecdotal evidence, but I’m not someone who only pays attention during the election and follows whatever the current group thought is. Most of the people I saw speaking out against voting were young leftists that were hung up on the US’ role in the genocide happening in Palestine, as if the US hasn’t been a major supporter of almost every imperialist/authoritarian country we’ve had dealings with basically since our inception… I wish people could be more realistic about this stuff. The choice was between more of the same neo-liberalist soft imperialism we’ve had since the early 90’s and outright fascism. By omitting their vote, a lot of young leftists chose outright fascism.

A lot of people are rightfully angry that so many leftists opted out of voting against fascism. How was allowing a dictator to take charge supposed to teach the DNC a lesson? They wanted to burn the house down and now it’s burning with most of us stuck inside. I think it’s fair to call them morons.
