I know other devs interested in making Tux games but before I begin with them I figured I would ask the community what they would like to see
A Conker/Golden Eye type game? DOOM-like? Farming Sim? Fighting Game similar to Smash? Open World RPG similar to older Bethesda games? RTS like StarCraft? Turn-Based like Final Fantasy or Expedition 33? Going mad for power in a 4X? Another genre entirely?
What genre would you all prefer to see have a game made first? I will basing it off of likes
I plan to make a game in each genre but for now figuring out which to do first is the goal. Have concepts, tools, experience, devs, etc ready to make anything the community wants
Edit:
Leaving this open for 2 more days. Whichever gets the most between the 2D Fighting and Turn-Based comments. They are both tied at 14 upvotes
I find it fun to see a new game in a unique genre I haven’t seen before, that doesn’t neatly classify into categories. Hyperbolica is a good example for me (maybe others could categorise it, idk)
Do an Indiana Jones spoof but with Duke Nukem humor. Action adventure with many puzzles mixed in.
I’d like something like Stardew Valley ❤️
I want to see some kind of physics based balatro. Like ‘dolphin up’ with insane combos akin to balatro or binding of Isaac. Maybe something like traveling through time. Start at the big bang, and try to make it to modern day. Move through time faster and faster with combos.
I’d say keep it simple to start. Perhaps a turn-based tactics game like final fantasy tactics advance, or more 3D, like XCOM?
I imagine a newer open source RPG Maker would make a lot of people happy, with or without tux branding.
https://github.com/cstrahan/open-rpg-makerId love to see very generic timeless type of games with less content but with the opportunity for the community to expand upon with maps/items/characters.
I would love to see a Trackmania clone. plain racing game with 4 button controls, fun physics, simple yet powerful level editor and a leaderboard.
EDIT: or a binding of isaac clone with potential for shit ton of items as i have just read somebody else mentioning it.
If you could use some of the Tuxcart resources/engine, perhaps a vehicle-based battle game with a garage for customization of your vehicle?
Tux-based 2D super smash type game, but more of an emphasis on physics and destrucitble environments.
Similar to the Attak flash game from JohnnyTwoShoes back in the day: https://youtu.be/GjQ2cGwsktg&t=10
A smash type game would be great! Add characters from Tux Kart and from other open source projects. Maybe a paperclip and apple as well, as villains.
