Haha, appreciate it, thank you. A sick family is never a fun affair. Good thing I’ve kicked off my daily caffeine addiction; so now when I do have them, they really hit.

So yeah, #2 really speaks to me rn.

Edit: also, those 5 shots were strategically spaced, not all in one go. That would probably have killed me.

6 just after waking up. 1 several hours later, after playing some piano.

But I don’t understand what the point is of having a sheet-music-holding-monkey if you end up having to turn the pages with your own foot. Shouldn’t the monkey do it? What am I paying it for?

Also, I’d love to know the history behind picture 5: are the birds attacking the owl or cleaning it or… ?

the picture hasn’t loaded right, but having trained some sheet music monkeys (freshmen) in my day, you can occasionally get them to turn the page at the right time.

Woke up as a number 8. Shut off my alarm instead of snoozed it and woke up when I should be about to leave the house.

At work now, so I’m at a typical number 4.

No, I actually don’t have any coworkers today, so it’s just nagging responsibility and my inner monologue.

If you find an injured owl:

Note your exact location so the owl can be released back where it came from. Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitation specialist to get correct advice and immediate assistance.

Minimize stress for the owl. If you can catch it, toss a towel or sweater over it and get it in a cardboard box or pet carrier. It should have room to be comfortable but not so much it can panic and injure itself. If you can’t catch it, keep people and animals away until help can come.

Do not give food or water! If you feed them the wrong thing or give them water improperly, you can accidentally kill them. It can also cause problems if they require anesthesia once help arrives, complicating procedures and costing valuable time.

If it is a baby owl, and it looks safe and uninjured, leave it be. Time on the ground is part of their growing up. They can fly to some extent and climb trees. If animals or people are nearby, put it up on a branch so it’s safe. If it’s injured, follow the above advice.

For more detailed help, see the OwlPages Rescue page.
