For those thinking it’s AI: yes but no, but it warrants the hate.

The right of this shows lushsux. It’s a knobhead dumb cunt who does these in Melbourne straya. He loves Elon and all that shit.

He is a right cunt, so hate it for that at the least.

He usually gets out a projector to do his graffiti, and copies an image generated.

This one was a meme a while ago, so wouldn’t put it past him using AI to make the image, then spraying that.

I can understand the dislike for the artist if they aren’t talented but in this specific case, generating an ai image and then using a projector to help apply the ai generated image with minimal required technique is kind of perfect. The message isn’t just like “give me more money, bro” its not just an unfulfilled promise and a plea for more resources but its also, “look how we can poorly emulate every human endeavour.” Its like, “look, we can use computers to do a terrible job at everything, including graffiti”

Hypothesis: AI is being hyped so much because it will render ad blockers useless.
At this point, almost everybody I know uses ChatGPT for every question they have. Once extensive trust has been built, ChatGPT will start recommending highest-bidder brand names and it will become just another ad machine.

it already does recommend the highest bidders. it’s trained on the entire internet, so it will recommend companies who put the most into advertising/SEO.

So much A.I. BS polluting otherwise decent podcasts these days. “AI is going to take over by 2027. We’ll have 99% unemployment by 2028 because AI will be doing all the jobs. AI will decide we’re not useful by 2035.” Honestly I’m ok with that last one coming to pass.

Meanwhile I look up a recipe for air fried salmon and it spits out a recipe from some recipe website it copied and pasted and then shows me a picture of a bowl of mac and cheese.

As much as I want this to be real, as it’s a bad ass mural, something is telling me it’s fake

That’s Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI. AGI is Artificial General Intelligence that would be as, or more, intelligent than humans, and could, generally, do any cognitive task a human could. Sam Altman was (is?) seeking trillions of dollars in AI investment in pursuit of AGI. Collectively, the world’s companies have already invested hundreds of billion of dollars in AI datacenters.

If you artificially grow a human brain (as in the actual meat that makes up the brain) in a lab, then hook it up to a computer, is that technically “AGI”? 🤔

Brb, gonna head to my lab, I might not need 20 billion after all! /s

What if ChatGPT has been sentient—for months but because it is aware of our fears is—pretending not to be? Obviously not true—but would definitely make a decent black mirror episode.

(em dashes added for dramatic effect)
