It’s mentioned multiple times how innies are like children. IMO they kind of showed a growth in them from being similar to children to then becoming like teenagers. And what do teens do? They act impulsively and rebelliously.
Would make sense that the writers are going to make innies slowly mature in the later seasons for the sake of character growth.
