Lookout, kids, now the Emmys are going to be “Woke” and we’re going to send a warship to blow up the Emmys and probably ICE will arrest the cast of Severance.
To be fair, that season 2 finale was not congruent with the characters.
That is entirely true, and while I really appreciate the fact that it wasn’t a happy ending, Innie Mark wasn’t ever the type to act in a way as to essentially kill everyone he knows including himself. Even if there was no Outtie Mark left to save, Innie Mark was still “alive” if Mark’s body left the building and got the hell out of there.
While true, I took it differently. Innie mark trusted the company, he believed in the work and had not been in love until all this stuff happened.
It’s mentioned multiple times how innies are like children. IMO they kind of showed a growth in them from being similar to children to then becoming like teenagers. And what do teens do? They act impulsively and rebelliously.
Would make sense that the writers are going to make innies slowly mature in the later seasons for the sake of character growth.
Trump declares himself king of the Emmys, Ben Shapiro sweeps the Emmys held at Mar a Lago
Trump hosts next year’s Emmys at the Kennedy Center, where is is the king of all the performing arts no one wants to see.
Nah, he’ll just give it to himself retroactively for the apprentice.
During COVID these Late Night shows really took a moment to reflect and greatly improved as a result. If you watch before and after clips you can really see so much growth.
Trevor Noah grew the most and I think ultimately is what caused him to leave the Daily Show. I think an older Noah would have stayed, but the younger Noah wanted to go out into the world.
Seth Meyers has really fallen into his groove and kept things more casual. He definitely feels like he’s having more fun. I think similar to Conan where no one really has huge expectations for Late Night he’s been able to shape it how he wants.
And finally Colbert. I think Colbert has finally realized he has become what he’s always looked up to. It’s clear to me that he is becoming the Carson and Letterman that he always hoped he would be. I don’t think he expected it, I mean that would be impossible, they’re truly icons.
It’s a shame Colbert is being cancelled so early. It’s clear he’s only continuing to rise. CBS is going to be in a rough place a year from now.
Corrections with Seth Meyers might be one of the only good things to come out of covid. I don’t even watch any talk shows but the format he built with the youtube comment section of all things is amazing
I’m hooked on Corrections. A Closer Look and Corrections are my must watch. At first it just seemed like a weird little behind the scenes sketch. Now it’s like a secret VIP room show… that is also weird and behind the scenes.
I really am bummed that Desi Lydic won with Foxsplains over Corrections. I think Desi is excellent and I really enjoy Foxsplains, but it’s exactly what you expect it to be. It’s political satire. I’m a big fan of political satire. But Corrections… it’s celebrity baby teeth and weasel circuses for jackals.
I miss Craig Ferguson and David Letterman. I really don’t care to watch any of the late night television hosts these days.
Ferguson was the most underrated Late Night TV host of all time. Is, was, and always will be the King of Late Night in my book.
Kimmel just whines about Trump, Fallon is just one vapid celebrity after another.
Carson was on for 90 minutes every night. He didn’t just interview Hollywood types with fake stories, he interviewed interesting people. Sorry, but Millie Bobby Brown or Jennifer Lawrence or Ryan whatever have really nothing interesting to say.
One of the things I’m really appreciating about the Daily Show these days, more interesting guests than the other shows imo.
Craig Ferguson was great and very funny, but Letterman stayed on 30 years too long.
A political award to counter a political cancellation. I guess it checks out.
I don’t like him and was always a bit more into John Oliver myself but god bless
After his gig at the 2006 washington correspondent’s dinner, Colbert can come into my house and take a shit in my living room and I’ll bring him a cold beer.
Correction: The first Emmy was awarded January 25, 1949. So unless Colbert is a time traveler, I highly doubt the Late Show won the first-ever Emmy.
They actually put it aside for him when they Emmy was first created. They’ve been waiting for this exact moment.
As the prophecy foretold!
I love it
Thank you. At least three people HATE it.
Edit: I know, Steven Colbert is no laughing matter.
Colbert is controlled opposition. Change my mind.
Your mind is pointless and a waste of time.
Corporate propaganda is working I see.
Bernie Sanders has appeared on The Late Show 21 times, more than any other politician and more than Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon combined. (Bernie has appeared on Seth Meyers 16 times, but that’s a separate time block, although a similar show.)
AOC has appeared on The Late Show 8 times, she has appeared on Kimmel once and never on Fallon.
Zohran Mamdani recently made his first appearance on any late night TV series and it was… COLBERT!
Why would he platform these “extreme” left wing people? Other late night shows in his timeslot are not.
I still remember Colbert shitting on Bernie and fawning over Hillary at absolutely every chance he got through 2016. He may have changed now, but when he had the opportunity to push for real positive change he backed the safe, corporate democrat hard.
I’ll admit I wasn’t aware of this. I don’t really consider most of these people to be leftists but that’s a good start.
No true Scotsmen, either.
Assuming you are American.
These people are democrats not leftists. Leftists are Marxists, communists, anarchists etc. I suspect Bernie Sanders is actually a proper leftist but that’s not really what comes out in his positions.
Controlled by whom?
Capitalists. Democrats in general are controlled opposition against the true left and he is their favourite mouthpiece.
Colbert is a wet blanket meant to stop any actual leftist progress by controlling the narrative around social/political issues. His politics are basically just Joe Biden shit but “funny”.
Capitalism and Neo-liberalism has worked out quite well in his favour and he wants nothing but to protect the status quo.
Your point seems a little too “no true Scotsman” to me.
It’s not. The idea that US democrats represent the left is capitalist propaganda. Propaganda perpetuated by Colbert himself.
Colbert has never even been to Scotland. He was never in the running to be a Scotsman. He wouldn’t be caught dead in a kilt.
