Clearly written. When someone tries to explain something to me, it’s always useless. I can follow pretty complex instructions, but they have to start from the start, and they never do.

I feel like I’m good at that, rooting the conversation on a common understanding when I’m doing the explaining, but not sure anyone else needs this.

“Please don’t call, send a text.” Making a phone call to tell me a thing means I’m more likely to forget it. Having a text say the same thing means having something to refer back to. Add on audio processing issues, where I may mishear what you say, and chances of me remembering drop even more.

Don’t even get me started on people who call to say one thing, but then make a whole conversation. The important information is going to get washed over by waves of irrelevant chatter. It has a high chance of fading away, like a foot print on beach sand.

I totally relate to audio processing problems. If I’m not paying attention to someone and they talk to me they will have to repeat it because I have no idea what was said.

The amount number of times I’ve told people at work, “Just email or text it to me or else I’m gonna forget,” is too damn high.

“Here is 300 pieces of information for your working memory, only 6 of which are actually relevant to what you need.”

    vs

“Here is a list that you can filter/sort/reference/etc at your convenience”

And the people I work with still can’t understand why so many of us hate meetings.

One of the things I’m happy with AI for is that it does summary meeting notes along with searchable transcripts. Helps so much when trying to reference things that were said on calls

I’m kind of a split and it depends on the information. Obviously it needs to be good info either way, but if it’s properly presented then I think I favor written.

Written for sure. I need a written order before picking up takeout, or else someone’s getting the wrong side or condiment.
