It is the latest in a series of Trump administration efforts to dispute, silence or downplay climate change.
The Energy Department has added “climate change,” “green” and “decarbonization” to its growing “list of words to avoid” at its Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, according to an email issued Friday and obtained by POLITICO.
The words on the DOE list are at the heart of EERE’s mission: It is the government’s largest investor in technologies that help reduce heat-trapping emissions that cause climate change as well as the hazardous pollution from fossil fuels. It is the latest in a series of Trump administration efforts to dispute, silence or downplay the realities of climate change.
“Please ensure that every member of your team is aware that this is the latest list of words to avoid — and continue to be conscientious about avoiding any terminology that you know to be misaligned with the Administration’s perspectives and priorities,” the directive from acting director of external affairs Rachel Overbey said.
republicans are trying as hard as they can to manifest the apocalypse, only so they can not find out how retarded their philosophy is and that they will return to the dust
We’re so fucked. I hate this country so much. I wish I could leave.
I’ve been trying to move for 15 years and haven’t even been able to get out of the state I grew up in. Sometimes it feels like the whole system is rigged to keep some people from leaving.
For real! Moving is so hard. Because you need to find somewhere to live, somewhere to work, and how to move all your possessions, usually with a very small window of time, as you need to keep bringing money in to stay afloat. Not to mention the sheer cost of moving - overlapping rent/mortgage payments, renting a truck, etc. And then there is all the logistical hassle - starting and stopping utilities, updating ID, changing addresses for important accounts.
And all that is just within the country. Leaving entirely, especially to live and work somewhere else, is even more difficult than all of that! Not to mention, then you’re likely leaving behind all social connections you have, and you may need to learn a new language.
People who go “if you hate it so much, or you don’t feel safe, just leave” have no idea what they’re talking about
They think we can just show up in another country and live there. That that’s our right, as white people or something, because they certainly don’t extend that kind of hospitality to brown people who show up here.
No one hates free speech more than a Conservative when it comes to climate change. Just look up the Harper government crackdown on climate science in Canada
Emissions? How do you talk about what comes out of smokestacks?
Freedom dust.
Radioactive Coal smoke.

Cheesus. I can only shake my head and watch on as this country is turning into an autocracy.
Add this to yet another reason the world is turning away from the USA. The USA is losing superpower status faster than a dandelion losing its seeds in the wind.
Car farts are heating up the planet.
So if “emissions” is off the table what do they call the smell coming from the Cheeto Benito?
