I’m a scientist who has become super interested in this stuff in recent years, and I have adopted the habit of calling the legit stuff “machine learning”, reserving “AI” for the hype machine bullshit

I tend to go by the three episode rule. I found that episode 1 was pretty meh, but because I was watching it on a friend’s recommendation, I stuck around to try to see what it was going for. If you gave it another go and still weren’t feeling it a few episodes in, then it just might not be your cup of tea.

Gotta write that shit down for it to count.

Monopolies are fucking cancer Edit: I realised my comment was slightly hyperbolic in the sense that this isn’t a monopoly, per se. I think “oligopoly” might be the better word, in that the big players in a given sector don’t need to have a monopoly if they work together as they often do. Either way, I’m sick of the impacts of way too many unchecked mergers and acquisitions.

I do think that this makes you weird (affectionate), and I hope you never change, because your weirdness is wonderful.

In school, when I was 13, one of my friends was “dating” a 19 year old. I vividly remember how cool we all thought this was. Reflecting on it makes me feel sick.

I really loved how she was recognised pretty unanimously as the badass that she is. Society has a lot of deeply rooted problematic beliefs around sexual assault, but Gisèle Pélicot’s bravery was a definite step towards unravelling those icky attitudes.
