In that situation you’re still admitting the threats have power over you; by releasing the photos yourself, you both out the person as fucking scum and demonstrate that their threat was completely impotent, delivering a one-two punch to the ego.

I’m sure that your future employer will care a lot about the difference while running the most progressive and sex positive background check ever.

An employer who looks up that stuff and has a problem with it needs to get treatment for their mental illness. They are unwell.

Exactly the same as if the guy released them so I guess it was never an effective threat to begin with?

That analogy only works if your nudes being out there hurts or at least bothers you. Maybe she doesn’t care or planned to do it herself someday?

You take away all the power if you follow through with releasing them yourself.

I really loved how she was recognised pretty unanimously as the badass that she is. Society has a lot of deeply rooted problematic beliefs around sexual assault, but Gisèle Pélicot’s bravery was a definite step towards unravelling those icky attitudes.

There used to be a phone number you could call and it just played the song. I put it my email signature at work and forgot about it. When I got a promotion later on I found out when the guy I was supposed to be training called me cracking up saying he tried to call me from the number in my email. Oops Thankfully it wasn’t a big deal because I think I put it as Work # then Personal # and had it as the personal one

No but adding unsubstantiated comments about how your ex wanted to post revenge porn about you probably is.

Edit: you can stop the down voting, I didn’t pick up the part where she screenshotted his threats. Either way, be careful with that sort of vigilante justice as you might be right but still break the law.

To an audience that isn’t interested in seeing them, yeah. They require consent, otherwise it’s a sex crime not dissimilar to flashing. I can’t remember the specific term. Non-consensual something or other.

Edit: I still can’t remember but the word “brandishing” keeps hopping to the forefront of my mind, and brandishing tits sounds hilarious

While violation of social media ToS is possible, I find it difficult to believe that a court would regard the sex crime angle of publishing one’s own photos online seriously. Otherwise anyone linking to their OF without asking for permission to send the link first would be a sex criminal.

“Oh what if she was a minor then it would be inappropriate” yeah it would be incredibly inappropriate if she was a minor, but since she isn’t, it isn’t.
