There’s Firefox and everyone else, and everyone else uses Chrome.
There’s Google and everyone else, and everyone else uses Bing.

Captain Aggravated@sh.itjust.worksto Technology@lemmy.world•Tea App A Second Tea Breach Reveals Users’ DMs About Abortions and CheatingEnglish21·21 hours agoThe article linked above asserts that it was a “legacy portion” of the database that got leaked, and that all the leaked data is from February 2024 and earlier. So this vulnerability apparently existed for at least 18 months. The timing of the leak coincides with a spike in popularity which brought wider attention down on it, and finally someone without the desire to implicitly trust it gave it a look.
Which says to me that in the few years this app has existed, it was never scrutinized, not by anyone on the dev side and not by anyone on the user side. That’s fascinating to me.

Apparently the brand is extremely popular in Japan, Yahoo Japan is on the list of top 50 visited websites. IIRC the brand was bought by Verizon, and I have no idea if Yahoo even offers web search anymore.

Captain Aggravated@sh.itjust.worksto Technology@lemmy.world•Women’s ‘red flag’ app Tea is a privacy nightmareEnglish21·2 days agoplease tell me you did not just use ted bundy to describe what you think women like in men?
I did, because he was. Two different ways.
-
Bundy’s modus operandi was to approach women in public as a handsome, charming stranger. I’m pretty sure women like handsome, charming strangers; the entire female dating strategy seems to be geared toward attracting handsome, charming strangers. Ted Bundy was able to attract dozens of victims like that. There’s an inherent danger in attracting strangers, because sometimes strangers are psychopaths.

Ted Bundy got a LOT of fan mail from women while he was in prison. Love letters, marriage proposals, nude photos. A shocking number of women saw his picture on the news alongside words like “murder trial” and “death sentence” and said “That’s the man for me.” He pulled some weird stunt to “get married” and he fathered a child from prison. This isn’t unique to Ted Bundy, lots of mass murderers and serial killers have groupies, from Charles Manson to Dylan Klebold.
i said doxxing should be avoided, if you’d read any of my comments.
You came across as pretty lukewarm to me. “Yeah doxxing is a problem I guess.” You can’t have a Don’t Date Him Girl website without doxxing. Doxxing is how they work.

The finish I used on this night stand is a product by Minwax called “tung oil finish.” It’s a blend of drying oil and wiping varnish. I don’t know if it has any actual tung oil in it.
Neither sunflower oil nor olive oil are suitable as a wood finish, those oils don’t polymerize the way tung, walnut or linseed oil does, so they’ll stay liquid on or just soaked into the wood, and then they’ll go rancid. Which is why they warn you off of using basically any vegetable oil for conditioning cutting boards or butcher blocks.
^ Winner of the thread.
