Know when they come home or if they are stuck in traffic
Look at maps and see how traffic is on their route if they’re late
“oh you are still in the store can you get me …”
Tell each other when you are going to the store beforehand and ask if you need anything.
security if they get kidnapped
Very unlikely to happen in the first place and competent kidnappers would toss their phone right away anyway.
I don’t own a gun, I am 100x more likely to use it on myself than need it for self defense where I’m at. But the scenario I’m describing, whether or not the home invader has a gun or not doesn’t matter, the simple fact that they are invading your home in the first place justifies lethal force. You could be injured/killed by them even without them having a gun so the safest option for the resident is shoot them immediately. The resident should not have to accept any level of risk whatsoever in dealing with this situation. You’re not getting a gun because someone might attack you with a gun. You’re getting a gun because someone might attack you.
You don’t own a gun in case of a burglar having a gun. It’s in case of home invasion period. I’m not going to wait around to determine if they’re armed or not and I’m not going to restrict myself to some lesser means of stopping them just because they aren’t. I didn’t create this situation and I am not going to accept risk to myself to preserve the life of some asshole who doesn’t even respect me enough not to break into my home.
Then they post about how the gun owners aren’t doing anything to stop the fascist government. Yea, you’ve been alienating them for decades. They’re not on your side.
Yea, tons of stuff like that is why I did things the way I did. If I start at the beginning instead of trying to jump around and figure out where you messed up it’s usually much more efficient. There were people who I was confident in their ability enough to skip around but if they were new to me we were going to cover the entire process to be sure.
I have the same problem. I work in IT and when I was on the help desk I was one of the “go to” people if someone needed help with a call. There were a couple times I heard new hires complain that I was “mansplaining” to them because I never knew where someone was coming from in terms of technical ability so when I answered their question I began at the beginning to make sure they understood. I did the same thing regardless of gender but I can see how someone felt like I was being condescending if they weren’t familiar with me. It did always seem like it was people who didn’t want to be there that would complain about it too. On the other hand several people that went on to get promoted off the help desk sent me thank you notes for teaching them so much so it kind of balanced out.
God damn it. I had work to do today and now I’m going to be reading about octopuses instead.
I think we should also force chuck e cheese to perform abortions.
That’s right, I’m torrenting all this stuff for my AI program…
