𝕽𝖚𝖆𝖎𝖉𝖍𝖗𝖎𝖌𝖍@midwest.socialto Comic Strips@lemmy.world•When a Christian Makes Contact with an Atheist2·20 hours agoAh, yes, well. Many people see the root of all evil not in money, but in organized religion, and that’s sometimes hard to emotionally separate from the (perceived) irrationality of capital-R religion. So, yeah: in friend groups, I can see debates about religion that veer into proselytizing, although – again – people generally don’t preach to the already-converted except in sectarian wars, which in the US have subsided as religious communities have solidified against the greater threat of atheism.
I grant, in any case, that even atheism can have strong advocates who try to convert people. I do think that it depends on who you are: being an athiest, I’ve never had an athiest pressure me about my religious beliefs, and have only been prosthelytized to by Christians… but that’s to be expected, right?
Thank you, Wizard!

The same could be for remakes in other countries; I can’t speak to that, but the French original La Femme Nikita was incredible. The American remake sucked. The British original Who’s Line Is It, Anyway (TV) was great; the US series stank.
I think that’s just the nature of remakes.
A sandwich? That was always an option? Heck, I’ll take the sandwich!

I will absolutely push back if something brings up religion.
It would be silly if a Christian tried to convert you, an already converted Christian. Maybe there’s some confirmation bias at work?
Ok, then put a “truthiness” meter on all media, which can’t be removed. It should not beat around the bush: if something is a lie, it should say “lie!” If someone is lying, it should say “liar!” If someone truly believes something, but are simply wrong or misinformed, it should have a truthiness meter.
It should do this for all news, anything masquerading as news, and televangelists. Fiction presented as fiction without pretense of being fact is exempt.
The meter should resist all attempts at hiding, filtering, and removal. It should apply to all media.

The range was wedged up hard against the fridge, with maybe 4 or 6" of counter between them. It sucked.
We moved everything, and made the kitchen floorspace a little smaller to add counter and cabinet space, and to move the fridge. The extra counter and cabinets were the best thing we did, in retrospect, but moving the fridge was huge. We didn’t put in a larger range, but just the extra elbow room at the range changed the whole feel of working in the kitchen.

The downside of a bigger cooktop is more surface area to clean. I’m only looking at 48" because I’m looking to swap in, and that’s the size that’s already there. You’re redoing your counters, too?

Also, one suggestion: build for the house, not your current situation. If the house has room for a family, install something that’ll work for a family in case you ever sell. Buyers will be looking at that.

I’m replacing, so I’m looking for a 48" model - what size is your’s? It’s a key factor.
It’s getting increasingly hard to avoid the “smart” cook tops, but that’s critical for me. I not only don’t ned my cook top to have WiFi, I actively want to not pay for smart features. We made the mistake of replacing our dishwater with a smart (LG) model, because of other features it had; I thought I’d simply not connect it… only to discover that some features are hidden behind a “download to use” function. Fuck you, LG.
We have a gas range I want to replace, not because I’m anti-gas (we have a properly, externally vented, hood with a powerful fan), but because cleaning gas tops is a serious PITA. I’ve liked the induction tops we’ve used in Europe, and would like to get one here, but they’re absurdly priced. I guess they’re still rare enough to be considered luxury options. I could replace by gas top for a fraction of any induction top I’ve seen.
Anyway, thanks again for posting this.
Edit: while I don’t generally use LLMs for searching, I do find them useful for product searches. Hallucinations are harmless (the product either exists and has the features I requested, or it doesn’t), and LLMs are far better about leveraging qualifiers such as “no WiFi”.
Here’s my DDG search, FYI.
It’s the same thing, dahling.

“After hearing X describe you, I was expecting a deep bass voice.”
The conversation faltered after that.
Yeah, yeah, you can write the guy off for being superficial, but I’m the guy who needed the favor, and all the help I could get.
First impressions matter. I’d absolutely have used a voice alteration tool to make my voice deeper on interviews; people respond differently to bass.
I thought it was the opposite: dangerous situations kicked the hormones into overdrive?
My wife is 2 inches shorter than I (6’) am. When she’s feeling girlie, she can snuggle up, but in 4 inch heels her legs go on forever and she towers.
She’s got the best of both worlds, and consequently, so do I.
My hard line is at the sexualizing animals, no matter how disguised, but whatever. It’s fantasy. There are far worse role playing scenarios.
