Yes, I worked at a government funded Healing Center who’s mandate was to provide therapeutic services for CSA survivors - all peoples. Where the director had their own socio-political agenda, and the funding and “correct SM virtues” behind them to enact a policy which with withdrew services from everybody except indigenous women and LGBTQ+ folk. I am completely in favor of services for those communities, the ones most marginalized. But as I said, the money flooding into the systems have created a new system of power, where certain people have built little castles and their own fiefdoms. What ended up happening is the department ostensibly designed to create unity, has just created more divisions, and took services away from other communities which are desperately underserved.
Thanks for the context! Maybe the way we structure organizations needs to change before we can expect any meaningful changes to the status quo to actually stick in the long term instead of miring themselves in just another broken system. Maybe “meet the new boss, same as the old boss” ain’t gonna cut it in the modern era
The ironic thing is that I actually dated one of the women on the board of directors. Her very PhD thesis was the research that the government cannot drive positive social change, and every action undertaken has deleterious effects
And there she sat on the board with her big fat cushy position, driving an over priced SUV
That is the grim reality when you break past the messaging online and you actually understand what happens with the money.
